Works in both The Roland SPD-SX & SPD-SX Pro:

How to install into the SPDS-SX and SPS-SD Pro:

1. Download the ZIP file containing the new kits from Yurt Rock after you complete your purchase.

2. Extract the ZIP file on your computer. After extracting, you should see a folder named “Roland_YurtRock_Expansion1” that contains the kit data formatted for the SPD-SX or SPD-SX Pro.

Step 2: Prepare the USB Thumb Drive

1. Insert your USB thumb drive into your computer.

2. Format the USB drive to FAT32 format if it’s not already formatted. Make sure to back up any data on the USB before formatting.

• Windows: Right-click on the USB drive in File Explorer, choose Format, select FAT32, and click “Start.”

• Mac: Open Disk Utility, select the USB drive, click Erase, and format it as MS-DOS (FAT).

Step 3: Transfer the Expansion to the USB Drive

1. After extracting the ZIP file, locate the “Roland” folder in the extracted files.

2. Copy the entire “Roland” folder to the root directory of the USB thumb drive. Do not place it inside any other folders, and ensure the folder structure remains intact.

Step 4: Import The Yurt Rock Expansion into the SPD-SX or SPD-SX Pro

For the SPD-SX:

1. Safely eject the USB drive from your computer and insert it into the USB port of the Roland SPD-SX.

2. On the SPD-SX, press the MENU button.

3. Navigate to UTILITY > LOAD > Backup Load, and press ENTER.

4. The SPD-SX will detect the backup file from your USB drive. Select the backup and press ENTER to start the restore process.

5. Wait for the SPD-SX to import the kits. Once the process is complete, the new kits will be available on your SPD-SX.

For the SPD-SX Pro:

1. Safely eject the USB drive from your computer and insert it into the USB port of the Roland SPD-SX Pro.

2. Press MENU on the SPD-SX Pro.

3. Navigate to SYSTEM > Utility > Backup Load, and press ENTER.

4. The SPD-SX Pro will detect the backup file from the USB drive. Select the backup and press ENTER to restore the kits.

5. After the import process completes, your new kits will be available for use on the SPD-SX Pro.

Step 5: Verify and Use the New Kits

1. Once the Expansion is imported, you can navigate to the Kits section on your SPD-SX or SPD-SX Pro to check the newly installed kits. They are kits 17-46. Kits 01-16 are the factory Roland kits.

2. Play the new kits on your pads and ensure everything was imported correctly.

*IMPORTANT Notes:

• Backup any existing data on your SPD-SX or SPD-SX Pro before loading the Expansion on an external drive, as the Expansion Import process will overwrite current kits and settings.

• If you want to restore your SPD-SX and SPD-SX Pro to the original factory kits and settings, you can download them from Roland's website: SPD-SX restore and SPD-SX Pro restore.
